• At Hearth Display we are creating a device to help active families manage their daily lives better. The Hearth device is a 27" (Android based) tablet that goes on a wall in your home. Think of it as the modern whiteboard for families. All your existing calendar events (Google) are available to help you manage time for family events. Kids can directly manage their tasks, routines without separate devices. Parents have access to all family plans with our web apps. We are a tiny team spread over US, Canada and India, with 3 fantastic female founders, 4 engineers and 1 product designer.

• Have been moon lighting on Travlyng since late 2017. I look at technology, product, marketing but I head mostly technology. We have a lovely small team and everything is developed/managed in-house from Kolkata, India. Most of my time though goes into consulting for Software/Technology companies in Europe.
• Travlyng is a fullstack platform for the Travel industry with multiple products in the pipeline. Current focus is on a Travel influence marketing platform and a Travel itineraries marketplace. Travlyng is built on Python/React stack. I stick to the startup playbooks from gurus at YC, IH, PH and other communities.

• Mylittlejob is an online platform to help companies work with students for short projects ranging from content writing, translation to surveys. Currently catering to 6 countries in Europe, the company wants expand to neighboring regions and then to other continents.
• I was responsible for the whole software development, from building the team to building and maintaining the product. The core product was originally in PHP and MySQL stack. I lead the team to transition it to a React + Python + PostgreSQL stack.
• The app was to be a long lived app on the browser or mobile, which is why I chose to go with an SPA.

• Continued working with Smaato and joined them as a full time employee, moving to beautiful Hamburg. We worked on the rewrite of the SPX project but started focusing on a Reporting API for our Publishers.

• Started working with Smaato as a contract developer, working from Kolkata, India. I worked with Roland on developing a re-write to Smaato's Publisher platform, the SPX. The project involved technologies including Python, Django, MongoDB, MySQL, Docker. My part was focused on the backend technologies. On the frontend side we worked with Angular.js. OAuth was used for authentication.

• Worked on everything about the website - from new features, bug fixes, implementing new design, reporting, and more. It was a small and energetic team. Being a remote team, we tried quite a few team / process management tools, loved some, hated some. I also took part in regular customer support along with the co-founders.

The journey has been quite exciting and now we are delivering good 200,000+ page views a day and growing rapidly. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity to build something from scratch with just 2 member team and make it come this far.
• The road ahead looks promising. There are problems, technical challenges and all such, but thats the whole point of it, isn't it...

• Building good websites is not as easy as some may think. It takes a lot of graphics, a nice girl in a red dress, some web hosting and some crap codes! Well jokes apart, the work is tough, challenging and fun.
• Delivering the right mixture every time is more difficult each time since there are more eyeballs to get judged by each day. The web isn't getting any smaller you know.
• Taking code inside out, keeping to standards and finishing withing strict schedule: phew! thats a lotta work... but hey thats why it is fun.

• 2002 - 2005: Early days of my web development journey. Build 2 websites on freelance
• basis with my own CMS made from scratch in PHP. Gradually became an active Open
• Source enthusiast and LAMP user. Started a PHP tutorial wiki on php.techfundas.com,
• which had some traffic in 2005-2006 (currently closed; manages the popular e-
• greetings web site 123greetings.com. The process of building, publishing, testing of e-cards
• (mostly interactive/non-interactive Flash format, some GIF format) was a manual one,
• involving about 80 people across 10 teams. It was what a normal paper-based office does,
• although everyone was working on a computer. I came up with the concept of integrating
• an in-house project/work system to manage all tasks and also HR management at the same
• time.
• With a team of 2 developers I had to make sure every person in every team knew and
• understood the new system. It was in LAMPerl. Overall a very successful project, and even
• after I left it, it has went on to become the most used piece of software in the company.
