Sunil K. Narang — AI Researcher
I am currently an applied research scientist in Facebook Marketplace. Prior to this in Microsoft, I worked in the web and entity understanding team in Microsoft Bing. Entity search is a very recent paradigm, in which semantic information about an entity (people, places or things etc.) is aggregated from multiple sources to directly answer user queries. In this team, I have been working on auto-correction algorithms using machine learning techniques to improve the quality of the data. In my dissertation, I have designed signal processing inspired tools for filtering, denoising, interpolation, compression and segmentation of data defined on large scale graphs. This requires blending ideas from spectral graph theory, machine learning, and statistical signal processing. Examples of application areas are: optimization in complex systems (e.g., communication networks), big data analysis (e.g., recommendation systems), image and video processing and wireless sensor networks.
