Vipul Ramtekkar — Product Manager
I am interested in Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning and Robotics and have done multiple projects in these areas. Currently, I work as a Computer Vision Research Engineer at Honda R&D Japan. My day involves solving challenging problems in vision and perception to help robots understand their environment better. My work focuses on perception and path planning in unstructured and dynamic environments. I work at the intersection of vision and planning and work to create systems that handle high uncertainties. Earlier, I worked on Roads and Lanes detection, leading the Computer Vision subdivision of SeDriCa, building a self-driving car with level 4 autonomy tailored for Indian roads. In the summer of 2019, I collaborated with the US Army Research Labs on video object tracking for Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles at the University of Missouri-Columbia. My work involved developing a state-of-the-art tracker by fusing motion flux, a deep Siamese network, and a Yolo detector. In the summer of 2018, I worked at the University of Tokyo on applying machine learning in bioinformatics and created a visualisation tools for deeper data analysis. I’ve previously worked on an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, an Autonomous Sanitation & Cleanliness robot, and an Autonomous Strawberry plucking bot and participated in various domestic and international competitions. I also did research in computational biology during my first summer at university. I’m skilled in Python (with Pytorch, Keras, OpenCV, and TensorFlow), C++, Java, and MATLAB. I have a curious mind and enjoy reading. I love neo-noir films and discovering new places.
