I began my career as an engineer at Deloitte in 2011, starting in India before spending a couple of years in the US. Upon returning to India, I founded Grappus with the vision of establishing a boutique product studio driven by design excellence. This was a unique approach at a time when India was primarily known as an IT outsourcing hub. Working and making products better at home, we seeked to capture the world's imagination with our design-first approach! Over the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with over 150+ companies of varying scales and sizes. Working with early-stage startups, venture-backed firms, and large enterprises, I've gained invaluable experience in running multiple business facets, focusing on strategy, growth, brand building, business development, operations, and talent acquisition. Despite being completely bootstrapped, we achieved an impressive $4 million in annual recurring revenue at Grappus, with a high-caliber team of 100+ individuals, predominantly focused on product development. Throughout the journey of building and growing my team, I encountered and overcame the typical challenges that come with scaling an organisation. Inefficiencies, bad hiring decisions, a competitive talent pool with soaring salaries, and a poor candidate experience were among some of the many obstacles we personally faced in our journey. Even with our own teams, we lacked objective data to aid our talent decisions, relying instead on subjective assessments. This realisation led us to conceive the idea of my second startup called Unberry, driven by the belief that despite the abundance of HR tech tools available, there exists a significant opportunity to create something truly distinctive and effective for the modern workplace. The rapid evolution of our work environments necessitates innovative solutions tailored to the changing needs of businesses. Unberry helps companies build the right intelligence on people to make the best talent decisions, backed by the most advanced technologies and science. I love to approach challenges laterally, drive decisions to the hilt, and keep an unwavering focus on the bigger picture. I'm an ardent believer in building strong teams and nurturing them right through in a creative, relaxed, and constructive environment.
