Got an opportunity to work in one of the Tier-1 Services at Zomato - Location Service
◦ Transferred location-related entity data, as well as read and write requests, using Kafka from Zomato monolith to Location microservice. Resulting in reduced load and enhancement of the accessibility of data.
◦ Setup Location Search feature in microservice utilizing Google Autocomplete API and AWS Elasticsearch, reducing the response time from 500ms to 240ms. Took ownership of the feature for further enhancements.
◦ Improved the Display Heuristics parsing mechanism, removing the instances where no or invalid display information was displayed for any chosen location utilizing Google Reverse Geocode API. The cases across India fell overall from 8.9% to 0.7%.
◦ Modified the database attributes to incorporate the functionality of adding the Recipient’s Name and Contact Information while adding or modifying an address, to allow OFSE (Order For Someone Else) feature on the part of Locations.
