About

As a Leading Psycho-Oncologist and Grief Therapist , I am dedicated to transforming mental health and palliative care across India—with a special focus on grief, bereavement, oncology, and holistic well-being. My journey spans clinical leadership, program development, academic research, and national advocacy, always centering on the person behind the diagnosis. Over the past decade, I have led psycho-oncology departments at premier institutions, including Fortis Healthcare and Bagchi Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre, Cachar Cancer Hospital and research Center. Silchar Assam and established vital support systems like the Cancer Support Helpline and ‘Aao Baat Karein’—bridging gaps in care for patients, families, and communities. My work extends beyond the clinic: I have trained hundreds of students, professionals, and even the armed forces in grief literacy, palliative care, and Basic and Advance Communication, empowering them to support vulnerable populations with skill and sensitivity. I am passionate about evidence-based innovation. I review for the Indian Journal of Palliative Care, guide research at Jamia Millia Islamia, AIIMS,Bhubneshwar and evaluate counseling skills using the Various evidence bases Models, all while presenting at international conferences and contributing to professional standards in psycho-oncology. My certifications in grief education, dignity therapy, addiction treatment, and healthcare leadership , Compassionate Leadership reflect my commitment to lifelong learning and best practice. My vision: A world where grief is met with empathy, not stigma—where every individual and community is equipped to navigate loss with dignity and hope. This drives me to speak, write, and advocate nationally and globally, from the Indian Association of Palliative Care to the Beautiful Dying Expo in Mexico. Beyond my professional life, I’m a former youth leader, national-level footballer, and theatre enthusiast—experiences that enrich my understanding of resilience, teamwork, and creative expression. I believe in the power of connection: connecting research to practice, individuals to support, and communities to hope. Let’s collaborate to build a more compassionate, grief-literate society. Reach out if you’re interested in palliative care, psycho-oncology, grief counseling, training, research, or simply sharing stories that shape our understanding of living and dying well. You can also visit my Medium and LinkedIn for evidence-based articles on grief, compassion, and creative approaches to end-of-life care—with a uniquely Indian perspective.
