He has worked as a Transport/Urban researcher in a global research organization like World Resources Institute, Washington, D.C. and also in an academic setting at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. He has research experience in creating viable models for developing active transportation, mass transit, and road safety infrastructure. He has expertise in conducting urban transportation research, data collection, data management, analysis and visualization with a focus on active transportation, mass transit, transit-oriented development, air quality, climate change and road safety. Ranjan graduated with a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg with a specialization in Transportation Planning. During his Master's he has worked on several projects ranging from Planning of Bus Rapid Transit Systems in India to planning of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and infrastructure in Blacksburg. Along with various reports on active transportation and sustainable mass transit systems, he had completed his Master’s thesis on quantitatively establishing the importance of on-time road and bridge maintenance and how it affects the common population and transportation agencies. Earlier, he had completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, India. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. He has previous work experience of 3 years at several urban planning and architecture firms in New Delhi and Kolkata.
