• In the capacity of an intern in a project concerning Soliga tribes spread across the Chamrajnagar district of Mysore, I was involved in community mobilization, assisting in monitoring the biomedical sample collection process, understanding the digital health innovations implemented at the PHC level, laise with the district health authorities and institute of public health for a Sickle Cell Anemia (SCA) project. Carrying out data analysis for the SCA project and assisting in field report documentation.
• Learning outcomes:
• 1. Skilled at documenting routine field experiences.
• 2. Understanding the on field challenges involved in collection,transfer of samples within the stipulated time and finding solution which can be put to practice.
• 3. Granular visibility of community behavior of tribes (Soliga and Jenu Kuruba).
• 4. Understood how data collection and data collection for action are similar but with a narrow line of demarcation differentiating the two.
• 5. Learnt how life is closely knit with the concept of 'one health' gained clarity in spread of endemic diseases.
• 6. Planning field visits, working in tough weather conditions and tapping the untapped are the take home lessons from the internship.
• I believed in data for research but the course of internship helped me shape my thought to
• "collect data for coherent actions to reap collated results for sustainable changes".
• Public health cannot be mastered with books but by spending time with the public. They know the problem and the solution but we as facilitators should help them understand both and aid in solving them.
• With these learning outlined, I am confident, capable and looking forward for my thesis work to facilitate my future academic interests.

• My role was to assist in pulse polio immunization program. I was involved in community mobilization, informing the mothers about the importance of the program, documenting the quantity of vaccine used and coordinating with my booth officer.

• During my tenure as a postgraduate student at MAHE, I was trained in epidemiology, social and behavioural science, foundations of global health, biostatistics to name a few. I pursued an internship and participated in field visits which helped me establish and strengthen my network. I had been part of community awareness programs and other extracurricular activities which helped me demonstrate my leadership abilities. I feel that through the right blend of classroom teaching and voluntary research activities, I am ready for taking up bigger public health challenges.

• As a Trainee Research Officer, I was involved in managing an ICMR funded project among the Jenu Kuruba tribal community in Heggadadevana Kote and Honsur Karnataka, India. My responsibilities were to plan the field visits by liaising with leaders of the tribal communities, communicating with senior civil servants, and members of the district administration. I successfully managed the team of field investigators and cherished the joy of staying in the reserve forests. This experience helped me gain clarity for nurturing my passion in public health.

• As a principal investigator I completed a project on the "Evaluation of Health Management Information System in Udupi district of Karnataka." The study employed a concurrent mixed methods design where the quantitative phase was nested within the qualitative study. The findings of the study were later presented to the district authorities.
• During this project, I learnt the development of IDI guide, analysis of qualitative data using R-QDA and managing multiple stakeholders.
