Dr. Ishrat Nasreen Wahäb — CEO

Born and brought up in the tea estates in Assam, Dr. Ishrat Nasreen Wahab completed her Masters in Tourism Administration from Garden City College, Bangalore, during which she was the topper of her batch. She received her Doctorate Degree (Ph.D in Management) on the topic "Analysis of Tourism Potential in Karnataka: A Study of Select Tourist Destinations", from CMR University, Bangalore. She is currently the Campus Coordinator at Garden City University. Dr. Ishrat previously served as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Tourism Department at GCU, and has been the managing committee member of Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) and represented the university as an Allied Member of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI). She has been instrumental in the signing of MoUs between GCU and other national and international institutions, as well as with government tourism departments, and non-profit organisations. Dr. Ishrat has collaborated with Incredible India - Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, the Department of Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka and Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited, for joint projects. She has successfully completed the short-term study abroad programme titled "India-Spain Exchange: Culture, Education and Health" conducted and sponsored by Universidad Camilo José Cela, at Madrid, Spain, in June 2018. She has served as a speaker at numerous national conferences and seminars and has taken on the role of Master of Ceremony at over a hundred events. Apart from public speaking, Dr. Ishrat is passionate about research and has published research papers in international indexed journals, and other journals of repute. Ishrat has published an edited book titled, "Exploring Niche Tourism: The Indian Perspective" (Edition: I, ISBN: 978-81-951483-7-0), which was released in January 2022. She has authored book chapters in handbooks published by some of the leading international publishers in academic writings including Springer Publications, IGI Global Publications, etc., and has received high impact citations for the same. Dr. Ishrat has been the Chief Editor of the academic journal, "Compass" (ISSN 2394-0646), and a mentor and contributor to the travel magazine "Welcome On Board".
