• Horrible job market in the Netherlands / western Europe. There are multiple reasons for the horrible job market. Inflation because of Covid-19 stimulus policy, high central bank interest rates regime, 2 major raging wars, multiple civil wars, global tensions / uncertainty around the world, and the latest entrant being the trade war / tariffs war. I successfully failed to secure a job with work visa sponsorship in the Netherlands / EU. I also applied for jobs in many countries spanning geographies across the world. I connected with so many people on Linkedin, sent so many messages and emails, and even followed up. For the roles that I applied to, many companies were looking for someone proficient in the Dutch (or local) language and others were unwilling to sponsor a work visa due to their business requirements. I have seen many job postings from many companies being posted in a loop for months together, not sure if they have any intention of hiring. Some companies were looking for someone with experience in the same industry. Very few companies (compared to the number of job applications that I sent) invited me for the first-round introductory interview (non-technical). Most of them did not invite me for the subsequent interview rounds. Some companies and recruiters ghosted me even after initial conversations. I also messed up one technical interview but the interview quality and the feedback were top-notch. One company told me that they could not proceed further since the board members did not provide the approval for hiring me, even after performing very well in a take-home coding assignment but I received valuable feedback. It should not be a surprise to see this career break since unemployment is very high throughout the world during this time period but this is still no excuse. I left the Netherlands and moved back to India at the end of November 2024 since my job search visa expired.

• This internship was a part of the Summer of AI, 2022 edition.
• I worked on supervised and unsupervised deep learning methods to classify and cluster images with steel surface defects. For the unsupervised task, I worked on a model as a proof of concept.

• For the supervised steel surface defect classification task, I worked on developing a production-ready AI model that achieved 92% accuracy. When the model is deployed, it would save 500K Euros per month for Tata Steel. Our team won the award for Solving the Most Valuable Problem.

• This internship was part of the HTSM programme at the University of Groningen. I worked on a project report proposing ways to develop a more sustainable shaver with less carbon footprint. The top 3 solutions that our team proposed could reduce the carbon footprint of the shaver by at least 10-20% depending on the solution.

• As a Machine Learning Research Associate in the Autonomy team, I worked mainly on research, prototyping, development, and deployment of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Robot Perception, Data Pipelines, and Algorithm solutions for Autonomous cargo vehicles.

• Developed, deployed, monitored and owned obstacle classification, obstacle detection, road segmentation, and lane segmentation models using 2D images.
• Developed deployed, monitored and owned drivable area segmentation using 3D LiDAR point cloud data.
• Developed, and deployed data pipelines for raw and derived sensor data for the camera and LiDAR
• Much of my contributions led to Ati showcasing more than 15 potential customer site demos and Ati's first 3 successful deployments. The total number of deployments have increased to more than 25 now. I contributed to the revenue generation for the company in the early stage.
