Karanbir Singh — Associate Consultant
Sustainability geek, urban strategist, and part-time climate optimist - that’s me in a professional nutshell. With a Master’s in Urban Management from CEPT University and close to six years of cross-sector experience, I currently work as a Consultant in Deloitte’s Strategic Risk and Transactions (Sustainability) practice, where I help businesses future-proof themselves in an increasingly ESG-conscious world. My day job involves decoding regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks like BRSR, CDP, and SBTi and translating them into actionable roadmaps for organizations which are looking to account for and reduce their Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. I also conduct non-financial audits, curate Net Zero strategies, and contribute to sustainability disclosures that don’t just tick boxes but actually move the needle. Prior to this, I was at LEAP Cities, a dynamic non-profit accelerator supporting urban innovators and impact entrepreneurs. There, I advised 18 portfolio companies working across water, sewage treatment, urban farming, air quality, and solid waste providing business and ESG guidance with a strong emphasis on circular economy models. I also consulted for textile industries on ESG reporting aligned with GRI Standards, curated high-impact workshops for non-profit leadership, and led communications through newsletters, outreach programs, and partnerships. My knack for turning jargon into clarity whether for investors, boards, or communities has helped bridge the gap between policy and on-ground action. Over the years, I’ve contributed to E\&S screenings, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Due Diligences (ESDDs), and Livelihood Restoration Plans, crafting reports and stakeholder presentations that have been used to secure funding from Multi lateral banks and manage regulatory clearances. I thrive at the intersection of data, design, and development and I’m driven by the belief that sustainability isn’t just a compliance exercise but a creative challenge waiting to be solved. When I’m not knee-deep in frameworks or fieldwork, you’ll find me learning new languages or traveling in interiors of India in the quest to learn how different cultures live in sync with their urban development.
