Hello Jack Heads, I am Sairaj Dhond, the Master Jack behind WAKAO FOODS, a jackfruit-based, vegan Food Company that made its humble beginnings in Goa, India in 2021. Two years is all that’s taken Team Wakao to scale the brand beyond Indian territories and be recognized as India’s First and Most Loved Plant-Based Product company. For sure thrives a great feeling of finally witnessing my vision see the light of the day. This is just the beginning. There is so much more to do, learn, and transition into. Known as a man who wears many hats, all my life the only thing I wanted to become was a Criminal Lawyer. All it took was a year-long practice for me to step down and walk on the path of entrepreneurship. As a fourth generation entrepreneur, I have been lucky to jump into the shoes of a successful serial entrepreneur, where I ventured into the lighting and solar solutions business, real estate restoration (Heritage Homes) before finally finding my calling in the food industry. With Wakao Foods, I do not just aim to create awareness about plant-based alternatives and throw light on jackfruits - one of the most wasted fruits in our country, but also stand out as a socially responsible individual, looking to give back to the environment and the community. In my personal capacity, I have been associated with social organizations like the Indian Red Cross Society, Goa Branch, The CII Young Indians, The Rotary Movement, and The Jaycees. I have been awarded as the BW Disrupt Young Entrepreneur in 2021. 2022 came in as a major turning point in the life of Brand Wakao, all thanks to us showcasing our brand on Shark Tank India Season 1. Every day, we are growing, learning, and making the most of the knowledge and expertise we have gathered. When I am not working, you will find me playing cricket. I have been a State-level Cricket champion, who thoroughly enjoys playing this sport even today. On the personal front, I enjoy spending time with my family, going out on long drives, breaking in my signature dance moves and enjoy a plate full of good food.
