In the past I built 3 new businesses at LiveRamp - the largest online digital identity graph provider for the open web. So I learned a surprising amount about what enables ads to be effective, and how to measure in the messy online world. I happened to have gotten a PhD at MIT before that, and no I never wanted to be a professor. I did it because it brought me great joy.
