I founded RateDesi.com in 2003 while at Cornell University. The site grew to be the world's largest social network for South Asian youths outside the subcontinent with over 350,000 registered users and a message board with over 12 million posts. The site's users primarily came from the USA, UK, and Canada.
For many, RateDesi was not just an online community. It was a second home. At a time where South Asians in the West had not quite reached the level of prominence they have today, RateDesi provided an outlet for its young members to connect with others like themselves: kid's growing up having to juggle two different, and often distinctly different, cultures.
