About

Present: I lead user research with over 17 years of experience in Research, Design and strategy. My strength in user research is across product, business & UX research, across generative and evaluative methods while working in B2C, D2C and B2B sectors. My focus has been on research delivering strategy, innovation and inputs for UX / product experience impact. I have led the largest research team among startups (12 nos.) and maintained depth-focused research which is actionable and strategic. My specialisation is also on the billion users with depth of learning around women demographic, SMEs/ SMB and emerging tech impact. Past: With a diverse background and multi-disciplinary experience, I'm able to navigate through scope of role/ work across industries, commercial and non-profit sectors at ease. I started with retail, design and branding experience covering over 1 million Sq Ft of retail space that involved strategy, designing and execution of projects across retail industries. This led to early exposure to consumer research and understanding the billion consumer behaviours during the retail boom in 2006 onwards. With diverse consulting and strategy experience in commercial sector, I dove into the social sector and built my leadership space in design for impact. I led a consulting firm that built my core skills in Ethnography, UX research, strategy, innovation and design across non-profit thematic sectors. In the entrepreneurial quest, I also started Poorna Kaksha in product and education innovation space, where we designed school infrastructure for better learning environment. Through AIYD, I was also exposed to diplomacy, international relationships and policy making sectors that gave a well rounded view from Research, Solution to Impact that can be strongly applied in the Tech space. Future: My focus has been to create value for User Research, as a skill & community across sectors and seek a global south alliance. I believe that Research needs to be closer to Business than just Product or UX for RoI & part of core business leadership. This means researchers need to upskill and be equipped not just to deliver actionable insights but also shape strategy, roadmap and innovation that can positively impact businesses. I also view researchers playing a critical role as voice of users, not just passively but as co-creators which will require us to push areas of policy, ethics and decision making.
