• As a clinical research coordinator, my goal was to facilitate the advancement of medical research and improve patient outcomes. I managed the startup and execution of research studies in Rush's Department of Anesthesiology. During startup, I collaborated in protocol development, created study documents, negotiated budgets, and ensured studies were FDA compliant. I also coordinated with local and central Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) to uphold Good Clinical Practice (GCP) ethical standards in each study. During study execution, I collaborated with principal investigators and other study staff to maintain compliance with protocols and regulatory requirements. I also screened study candidates, consented participants, organized study visits, and collected and managed study data. I maintained detailed records for each participant and prepared reports for submission to regulatory agencies. In addition, I established and fostered new interdepartmental relationships that increased the Anesthesiology department's study resources and capabilities. Overall, my work played an integral role in the Anesthesiology department’s success and expansion in research.

• As a clinical research assistant at the Rush University Medical Center I screen and recruit subjects and conduct study visits for multiple studies in the Department of Anesthesiology. For this position I obtained extensive training on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethical standards in clinical research. I am also gaining experience with EPIC, OnCore, and the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) system.

• As a COVID-19 testing clinic assistant, my goal was to aid in the fight against the pandemic by facilitating UC Davis’ testing process. My primary responsibility was to assist with the testing site’s daily operations. This included checking patients in, collecting and labeling samples, and ensuring proper storage and handling of specimens. I also maintained the cleanliness and organization of testing stations, as well as followed all safety protocols and guidelines to protect myself and others from COVID-19. Through my attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, I created a welcoming and supportive environment for patients seeking COVID-19 testing.

• As a Physics and Organic Chemistry tutor, I provided academic support to students through individual and small group tutoring sessions. In these sessions, we reviewed course material, key concepts, and problem-solving strategies. I used my strong knowledge and understanding of Physics and Organic Chemistry to help students develop critical thinking skills and intellectual adaptability. I worked closely with students to identify their individual needs and adjust my tutoring techniques accordingly. Through excellent communication and interpersonal skills, I created a supportive and engaging learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Overall, I helped students build confidence in their abilities in Physics and Organic Chemistry and achieve their personal academic goals.

• In my first year I focused on two important facets of Western Blotting, a widely used protein quantification technique in research. First, I researched protein concentration saturation points for Western Blots. My experimental results were used to support a paper produced by one of our lab's graduate students. Second, I investigated the efficacy of Western Blot stripping buffers and their viability as a cheap, practical technique. I presented the stripping buffer research at the 2020 UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference. My third project was a literary analysis of pesticide-induced oxidative stress in various cell and tissue types. I worked with a graduate student to summarize the key points from hundreds of source articles and synthesize a cohesive report on the present knowledge of pesticide-induced oxidative stress. I also created two graphics displaying our findings to improve reader engagement and understanding. For my final project, I earned UC Davis' Provost Undergraduate Fellowship (PUF), which granted me funds to conduct my own research on pesticide-induced oxidative stress. I investigated the oxidative stress effects of a lesser researched pesticide called Prometryn and tested the potential ameliorative impact of Vitamin E in cells exposed to Prometryn. I presented this research at the 2021 UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference. In addition to my research, I took on management and leadership roles. I managed laboratory supplies and taught incoming undergraduate researchers how to design and conduct certain experiments.

• I organized and lead practices and games for a youth lacrosse team. As the defensive coordinator, I focused on teaching strong communication, teamwork, and discipline. Through positive reinforcement and encouragement, I fostered a team-oriented, competitive environment, which helped build confidence and camaraderie amongst the team. Additionally, I maintained strong communication with parents to provide updates on the team's progress and address any concerns. Overall, I provided a fun and safe learning environment for the team, and I enjoyed helping my players grow as athletes and as individuals.

• Before the start of the school year at Davis Senior High School, I toured fifteen sophomores around the campus, led ice-breaker games to get the kids more comfortable with each other and answered any questions they had about the high school. Throughout the rest of the year I acted as a mentor for a few of the kids in my tour group. I answered questions they had, helped them through any academic or personal struggles they were experiencing and as a whole was a friend for them to talk to in times of stress.
