Palkesh Soni — Senior Software Engineer
Operating System is a complex, yet fascinating realm where technological innovation meets business. As a dedicated Windows Operating System Developer, I thrive on the challenges of creating seamless, efficient, and secure user experiences that keeps windows reliable, secure and it's customers productive. My work involves the intricate interplay between software built by various teams and often hardware, ensuring seamless experience that is efficient, reliable and secure across various platforms. I cherish the journey of shaping the future of computing together. Here are some exciting contributions that I am both proud and grateful for: - Secure Hotpatch for Windows: Developed OS features and build tools to optimize the hotpatch development workflow, now generally available in Azure for Windows Server VMs. - Windows Server Container: As a Core OS developer in the Windows Container platform team, I ensured the reliability of Windows Server Containers for Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service, and on-premises solutions like Windows Server and Azure Stack HCI. - Virtualization for Azure and Windows Server: Worked as a Core OS developer in the Hyper-V Platform and Management team, focusing on the reliability and performance of virtualization storage for Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022) in standalone and fail-over clustering scenarios. Also improved reliability and performance of software mitigations for side-channel attacks (Spectre, Meltdown, etc.) for Azure. - Windows Drivers on Qualcomm SoC: As a Core OS Developer in the Driver Quality organization, I built various tools and test automations for Windows 10, Windows Phone 8., and Windows Phone 7.. This included the Stress framework for Qualcomm, UEFI and main OS battery charging validation framework and tests, and various Windows Phone chassis validation. - Photo and Video Editors for Windows Smart Phone and Pocket PC OS: Led a team of software developers to build photo and video editors using optimized software codecs from a startup, which was later acquired by NVIDIA. - Retail Sales Application for PepsiCo Europe: Led a team of software developers to build a retail sales application for PepsiCo Europe that runs on Windows Pocket PC OS and integrates with other software systems. Initially contributed as a developer for version 0 of the application, and later led the rollout across thousands of routes in Spain, Portugal, and Poland.
