• Led a team of 5 engineers to provide post order processing tools and automation, products for Customer Support and Warehouse, integration of any other third parties needed in the process with an aim to reduce time taken and cost incurred to deliver an order, and to enhance user experience while doing the same.
• Responsibilities
• Gradually Overhauled the stack from a Cron based process to event driven process (based on SNS, SQS and Python based consumers), reducing the delay in order processing by 15 minutes and also introduced retry mechanism, thereby reducing errors significantly. Effect could be seen with error free Big Sale events on the website.
• Enabled auto heal mechanism for failing processes, by reading error logs or Cloudwatch Alarms based on status of SQS Queues.
• Created a central Graphql API to power all backend operations processes, eliminating the need for all processes to connect to DB directly, thereby increasing database security and reducing number of connections to the database.
• Created microservice to manage all shipment processes (Shipment Generation, Carrier Allocation, AWB Generation and Tracking). Reduced the overall error rates in the logistics integrations by a factor of 10.
• Used real time updates from Carrier Providers to proactively resolve delivery issues, thereby increasing the average TAT compliance and improving NPS.
• Created multi tenant systems using which multiple websites are powered using the same process, depending on "client" information.
• Created a config service that is used by processes to reuse variables from a central location instead of defining all variables in the process environment variables. This reduced the dependency on Devops teams.
• Used MRJob in Python to write Mapreduce jobs for bulk operations.
• Created real time dashboard in Grafana with Influx DB time series database to visualise data and identify anomalies using the alerting framework.
