Prodyut Bora, 49, is a member of the Congress Party and an entrepreneur. Born in Jorhat, Assam, in 1974, Prodyut Bora had his early education in Jorhat and North Lakhimpur, where he studied at Carmel School and St Mary's School respectively. Thereafter he studied, successively, at the Rashtriya Indian Military (RIMC), Dehra Dun; Delhi Public School (DPS), Noida; St Stephen’s College, Delhi; and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He also attended the London School of Economics (LSE) as a Chevening Gurukul Scholar, and Yale University as a Yale World Fellow. He started his post-MBA career as a management consultant with Hewitt Associates, and then went on to become the VP (Business Development) of Digital Talkies, India’s first digital filmmaking company. He incubated a software company and ran it for 6 years, before joining politics full-time. While IIM graduates can be found in diverse careers from writing to education to NGOs, Prodyut Bora has pioneered the move to politics. He started his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2004 and served in various positions at the national and state levels. But upset with BJP's move to the far right, he quit the party in Feb 2015 and founded the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). In April 2023, he merged LDP with the Indian National Congress (INC).
