  • Leading a team of 12 developers to create systems that are adoptable across teams to increase
  • efficiency and uniformity across the organization.
  • Loan Operations Dashboards: A retail used car loan domain is an operations reliant process. The
  • traditional approach relied on Google sheets to assign/track lead to the loan operations team. A CRM was
  • built from scratch with principles like roster management and lead prioritization to make the loan
  • process more efficient. The loan attach rate (i.e. ratio of cars being sold on loan to total cars sold) –
  • was increased from 35% to 47% within a span of a year.
  • Data Aggregator Pipeline: The CRM dashboards relied on table joins to leverage data across
  • different components, for example, showing a buyer name with his loan interests. The solution was
  • not scalable and it made the databases slow. The solution to the same was building an aggregation
  • pipeline which used technologies like NiFi and Mongodb to denormalise data based on aggregations.
  • It saves on development effort to decrease the development time from 6 weeks to just 2 weeks, for a
  • whole functional dashboard. Also, the pipeline is adopted across 3 different teams.

Lead Software Engineer

  • Working as a lead with two different teams, managing the Payments and Loan services. Key impacts
  • were around workflow simplifications and stabilizing the products.
  • Loan Rule Engine: A crucial step in users' loan journey for a used car lies in profiling a consumer
  • based on his/her credit history. A rewrite of the same was done to simplify existing computations and
  • leverage an open source tool called Camunda. The service is capable of identifying a loan application
  • in under 50 ms vs the older version which was 100x slower. A similar solution was adopted by three
  • other teams in the organization.
  • Fuel Expense Disbursement App: The fuel expense is one of the major expenses borne by the
  • company and it relied on reimbursements. This made the process vulnerable to frauds and not able to
  • map fuel expenses to a vehicle. An android app was built from scratch to enable drivers to use OCR
  • and QR codes to send payments directly to petrol pumps. This app saves over Rs. 1 lakh per month
  • from fraud bills and further restrictions on fuel to be filled per driver brought the fueling cost down
  • by 1 crore per year.

  • Full-stack engineer in a team responsible for managing/securing the cloud resources for Expedia Group.
  • Secure-by-default AMI for EG: Led a team of three to design and plan the release of the project. Contributed to building the infra using the Terraform scripts. The AMI acts as a default for the resources creation at Expedia Group being used across 450 AWS accounts. The hardened AMI saves 3k man-hours each quarter that went into patching the servers.
  • Migration of data pipeline to the EG deployment tool: Single-handedly migrated the data pipeline for the security team at EG. The contribution included the laying down of the migration process and execution with no downtime. Elasticsearch, Athena, and Kafka were the services that had 4 billion events following each day at a size of around 4 TB.
  • Lightweight search tool for Security Analysts: Designed and built the system from scratch. Contributed to a design proposal for the tool, setting up Elasticsearch and the backend of the search engine. Elasticsearch was optimised to store 3 billion events at a rate of just 130 GB storage per day.

  • Lead Generation System Revamp: Revamped the lead generation system that was used to send millions of emails each day. The introduction of a tailor-made templating engine removed a lot of boilerplate code and made emails easy to configure. The time for sending a lead campaign (1M emails) reduced from 12 mins to 5 mins.

  • Homepage Admin: Built from scratch a tool that helps to schedule banners/products that are being shown on the website’s landing page. Contributed to the backend to schedule the homepage and serve the content from CDNs. The website had around 240 million visits monthly.
