Communication is my business, passion and skill. Have been in the business of writing starting as a junior reporter with Movie, a film monthly in 1982. What started as a lark taught me how to deal with celebrities, how to use style when content is poor and of course develop an eye for color and photo composition, thanks to an encouraging editor. I soon tired of this and moved on to general journalism post-marriage and shift to Pune. Was Pune correspondent for Savvy & Society. A long motherhood break had me juggling babies and freelance writing for Saturday Times (then) Sunday Times, Midday, Femina, Woman’s Era. Also had a stint writing for UTV. After a TV and feature film script I joined the Indian Express Pune as a feature writer, in 1997. The entire city was on my plate interviewing Presidents of multinationals and Beggars' Association, innovators to children born without gender and more. An exhilarating experience that had to end with the end of my marriage and the need for better pay. I started my own PR consultancy in 2001 and have had the Promoters & Builders Association of Pune, Deepak Nitrite Ltd, GoelGangaGroup, Digital Partners, Maximize Learning and more. Conceptualised and executed the Preview Club, a first of its kind customer loyalty program for Inox and the idea of warranty of flats for GoelGanga way back in 2002. PR taught me about perception and how to leverage the media to build credibility. I joined The Indus Entrepreneurs Pune (a not-for-profit global body promoting entrepreneurship) as Executive Director in 2007. My job involved being a synapse that connected start-ups, mentors, innovators, and students. Also organized an Inter Chamber Golf Tournament and a Creativity Workshop for the Nobel Museum, Sweden. All very interesting, except that my spirit could not keep pace with my health. I quit TIE in April 2013. Currently, I freelance for newspapers and have launched an interesting Customer Engagement Program to build loyalty and brand promotion.
