• Our project was to identify the current challenges with Hadoop architecture and propose as well as implement the improved solution. We came up with a new version of the scheduling that could schedule the job, prioritizing the assignment of local job rather than non-local job. The proposed new scheduling algorithm was able to obtain the highest data locality rate and the lowest average response time for map tasks. This improved scheduling helped us decrease unnecessary inter-rack network bandwidth as well as localize and maximize the computational work to the TaskTrackers which had the data required for the processing of the job locally. This also helped us decrease the load on the scheduler queue as most of the job were now assigned without following the strict restriction of FIFO and were also avoiding deadlock between jobs. Our project also compromised of proposing impovements for specific uses like real-time Big-Data analysis using Hadoop.
