• Reduce 99th percentile latencies of all customer-facing search APIs ranging from 300-350ms to within 100ms.
• Build support to be able to scale the search infrastructure without the need for manual scaling. The infrastructure has been on minimum maintenance mode for 3 years since this effort.
• Architecture and migration of a monolith into an event-driven micro services system - this aided easier development efforts and led to the formation of focused content, booking, search and discovery teams.
• Create a new search experience with search suggestions, recommendations, intent classification, query understanding, relevance ranking and personalization.
