I was born and raised in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. I was 15 when I dropped out of school to play tennis at the state level. Injuries forced me to give it but a few months later, I joined India’s first professional cycling team. I became the youngest Indian to qualify for the prestigious ‘Paris-Brest-Paris’, held once e​​very four years. While my sporting career was taking off, I wanted to do something more. In 2012, I started an NGO, Half Glass Full, with the aim to fuel creativity and increase exposure amongst young people from low-income households. I wanted to build a future where inequality in upbringing and asymmetry in exposure could be bridged through the power of the mobile phone. This became the foundation of Josh Talks, which I co-founded with Supriya Paul. Josh Talks is on a mission to unlock human potential by creating tools that effectively nurture each individual’s potential. We started out in 2015, giving Bharat’s youth access to relatable role models in regional languages through the Josh Talks platform. As the next step, we expanded to provide affordable, employability-enhancing skills through our Android application, Josh Skills. Our flagship offering, the Spoken English course, has generated strong user feedback with industry-leading course completion rates, unlocking employment opportunities for our users. As of March’22, our content has garnered over 2 billion lifetime views, averaging 85 million+ monthly views across platforms. Josh Skills has more than 3.2 million downloads with 200,000 paid users.
