  • In my role as the Women, Family, and Activities Manager and Social worker at Forus Transittmottak, the largest transit camp in Norway with a capacity of 1,000 people, I spearheaded key initiatives that significantly enhanced the quality of life and integration of refugees. My responsibilities encompassed coordinating the establishment of a school within the camp and fostering collaborations with external educational institutions, kindergartens, health authorities, and volunteer organizations.
  • A cornerstone of my tenure was the development of robust routines and mechanisms for the effective distribution of toiletries and access to amenities, ensuring that basic needs were met with dignity and efficiency. Moreover, I was instrumental in creating a vibrant volunteer program that actively engaged refugees. This program not only facilitated meaningful volunteer activities but also empowered refugees to take responsibility for their own and others' life situations, fostering a sense of community and agency.
  • This role profoundly deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by refugees, including recognizing their strengths, potential, and vulnerabilities. Inspired by these insights, I pursued further studies in intercultural relations and migration. My focus has been on devising strategies to better integrate migrants, including myself, as active and contributing members of their host communities and their home countries parallely.
  • My experience at Forus Transittmottak has equipped me with invaluable skills in cross-cultural communication, project management, and community engagement, making me a proficient consultant committed to driving social change and enhancing community cohesion.
