Anuraag Hota — Product Manager
From standing awkwardly in rural Karnataka kirana stores—armed with nothing but a prototype app and zero local language skills—to helping Fortune 500 CXOs make multi-million-dollar workforce planning decisions—I’ve come a long way in product management. My journey began at EdgeVerve, where I first discovered what product management really meant—not just writing specs, but the art of uncovering unmet needs, connecting dots, and rallying teams around shared outcomes. I worked on an FMCG distribution ERP and built a mobile ordering app for Indian kirana stores, often on the field with users, learning by doing (and mostly miming). The real inflection point came with Whatfix. I joined when the ARR was around $2M, serving mostly SMBs. By the time I moved on, we had scaled to $80M+ ARR, partnered with enterprise and Fortune 500 clients, and built a product that was embedded in workflows across 60+ countries. Over 6.5 years, I evolved from a Product Manager to Associate Director, navigating a maze of growth-stage chaos—customer escalations, architectural pivots, pricing decisions, leadership alignments, and hiring. I said No more often than Yes and wrote more PRDs than I can count—but I also built things that made users smile. Today, I’m building a first-of-its-kind Total Compensation & Benefits (TCB) product in the HR Tech space. It’s a strategic layer that sits above HRIS, ATS, payroll, and equity platforms, designed to help CXOs make smarter, faster decisions across workforce planning, merit cycles, and comp budgeting. It’s a new category, a complex problem space, and I’m loving every second of it. Outside of work, I’m a travel obsessive - I’ve visited 32 countries and counting. My currency collection is a story in itself: 450+ unique banknotes from across all 190 UN-recognized nations. You could say I collect stories in paper form. And yes, I still plan all my holidays using a DFV (Desirable-Feasible-Viable) framework - because some habits die hard. What’s next for me? Maybe I finally finish the book I started in 2017. Maybe I step foot on Antarctica (the 7th continent still eludes me). Maybe I build a product that changes how we think about compensation altogether. Until then—if you want to jam on B2B SaaS, product strategy, or travel hacks—I’m just a message away.
