About

My primary research interest is the design and analysis of distributed algorithms for different coordination problems in the field of swarm robotics. A swarm of robots is a distributed system of small autonomous robots which are capable of carrying out some tasks cooperatively. Such a multi-robot system provides a wide range of potential applications like search and rescue, exploration and mapping of unknown environments, security and surveillance, agriculture, education, constructions, etc. These real-life applications have challenging requirements. In my research work, I aim to develop robust and efficient algorithms for swarms of robots. The main objective has been identifying minimal sets of capabilities of the robots that are necessary to solve these formation problems. We have established different results for the gathering problem, the circle formation problem and the mutual visibility problem. We have studied these problems in the perspective of Fault-tolerance and different optimization criteria like minimizing maximum distance traversed by any robot, minimizing sum of distance traversed by all the robots, etc. Apart from above, I am also working on different problems in the areas of distributed algorithms for multi-agent systems, distributed network algorithms, security in distributed computing and optimization problems in computational geometry
