• After I left my job at the confidential startup, I spent 2 weeks working as a full-time reader to finish and practice some technical books that I had lined up. This was when I got approached by the folks at Rackspace/Onica and got a job offer as a cloud engineer. Having already heard amazing stuff about them, I joined their team to get more experience into the later phases of the software lifecycle.
• During my time at Onica/Rackspace, I have:
• Developed, maintained, and improved more than 20 pipelines varying in all degrees of complexity using all sorts of pipeline technologies for our diversified pool of customers.
• Made 12+ meaningful contributions to our internal tooling and knowledge base and helped fellow teammates do almost as many; meaningful contributions means tools developed from the ground up, features added, hard bugs squashed, blog posts, and experience contributed to our internal knowledge base.
• Managed and Troubleshooted Kubernetes Clusters.
• Implemented monitoring and alarms for cloud based infrastructure.
• Recommended and implemented better ways for our customers to fully utilize the AWS cloud.
• Wrote Infrastructure as Code in CloudFormation, terraform, troposphere/stacker, CDK.
• Bootstrapped a project to automate all repetitive OnCall tasks from potentially different monitoring platforms.

• Architected our data ingestion pipeline to have a balance between performance, scalability and cost effectiveness (This was my first real world large scale architecture problem).
• Worked on implementing this data pipeline using select technologies including Protocol Buffers, Kafka, ElasticSearch, AWS lambdas, among others.
• Developed, maintained, and deployed a fully modular image generation micro-service for rapid adaptation to changing image generation requirements and maximising our Click-through rate.
• Developed many RESTful APIs using django rest framework, and Go.
• Deployed applications using Elastic Beanstalk, plain Amazon EC2, S3, Heroku, AWS API Gateway, and CloudFront CDNs.
• Created reproducible cloud environments using Cloudformation and AWS CDK. Had a short lived experience with Terraform.
• Worked with bitbucket pipelines and docker containers to provide Continuous Deployment of semantically versioned micro-services. Had short-lived encounters with AWS CodePipeline.
• Used AWS Lambdas, DynamoDB and cloud-watch events to develop and deploy digital marketing bots for our project. This helped in decoupling bot logic from the monolithic application and saving operational costs of running these bots traditionally.

• Learnt a lot about software defined data-centres from a cloud provider's perspective including topics like open-stack, OVM, network security in the cloud, VXLAN, and many other topics

• Developed a robust python provisioning script to automate the installation of new data centres, reduce the number of personnel required for the process, and minimise human error.

• Aided in the development of an information system to store all of the infrastructure's routers, switches or other network hardware and all their relevant data
