About

I love to help people, I have a big heart and caring personality. People are what make this world work, and given the chance, people can do amazing things. Along with my giving personality, comes my strong competitive nature. I have been a member of athletic teams all of my life, and had the amazing privilege of playing College Men's Basketball at Colorado College. Without basketball, I would not be who I am today. Athletics has taught me the value of hard work, setting goals, leadership and teamwork. If you have a relentless work ethic, and a passion for something, very little can stop you from reaching your goals. I have volunteered in the community, I love new challenges, and am always open to learning new things. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

Special Projects Coordinator/Career Center

Promoted

Aug 2012May 2013 · 9 mos · Colorado Springs, Colorado

  • Upon graduation I was hired on in the Colorado College Career Center, as a Special Projects Coordinator. Brought in as a year long fellow, to add some youth and new ideas to an old and lacking system. With a new president in place at Colorado College, there has been much room for change, planning, and fresh ideas. In my short time with the Colorado College Career Center, many changes have been made, students have become much more receptive to the idea of "Thinking about life after college," as the staff in the Career Center has been instrumental in instituting successful change, I have been able to start programming such as senior focus groups, networking events with alums, and relevant workshops to prepare students for life after CC. In my short time (6 months) I have been blessed with the ability to grow as a professional, make lasting impacts on the student body/school community, and have had more hands on experience then I ever imagined. I am very excited to see where this experience leads me.

  • New Student Orientation Team Manager/Assistant
  • New Student Orientation week is one of the busiest times on the Colorado College campus, as well as a very pivotal and important time for incoming freshmen and their families. As a member of the New Student Orientation Team, I was tasked with leading/managing a group of 15 students to help students and their parents with the move in process, as well as chaperon events, lead tours, and really add a friendly face to Colorado College.
  • It really allowed us to help with the transition from high school to college, it is a tough time for both students and families due to being separated for the first time. My main focus was to make that transition as smooth as possible, these young students are about to enter the most important 4 years of their lives, and if we can mentor them and help them be successful that is very important.
  • As well as managing a team of NSO helpers, I was also asked to lead/serve on a Student Panel in which no staff or faculty was present, and the topic was "How to Succeed at CC." At the time, it was difficult to admit that I had been successful at Colorado College, given my humbled nature, but it was an honor to be asked to serve on the panel. It was very successful and I know that a lot of good information was passed onto the freshmen class.

Athletics Department

Aug 2008May 2012 · 3 yrs 9 mos · Colorado Springs, CO

  • The athletics department at Colorado College provided me with the opportunity to play college basketball, and earn an amazing education. I absolutely loved the people who worked within the department, and wanted to give back to the people that gave me so much, as well as pursuing a love for sports, and the want to gain experience in such fields.
  • I helped out mostly with game day preparations, and event management. As well as participated in some of the marketing campaigns. Along with that, being a member of the Men's Basketball team, we started a support program to get athletes to support each other on game day. The program was a huge success, and a culture of attending fellow athletic events was established. Since then, record attendance has been recorded at Division III athletic events.

Head Basketball Coach

Apr 2008Aug 2011 · 3 yrs 4 mos · Golden, Colorado

  • Coaching has always been a passion of mine. I love teaching young kids the game that has given me so much. I look back on my development and some of the most influential people in my life were coaches. Acting not only as a mentor, but truly having an impact on these young kids life was an amazing experience.
  • I was given a head coaching spot at 17 years old in my second year with the club. At a young age I could tell that the parents of the kids I was coaching were very hesitant to trust me with their child's basketball/life development. This was huge for me, because that feeling of doubt fueled me to prove to the parents and myself that I could handle such a large leadership role. By the end of the year, my 7th grade boys team had advanced immensely in terms of skill development, and had also matured substantially.
  • The Shining Stars Basketball Club, and the responsibilities of being a head coach taught me valuable lessons: Time management, mentoring, leadership, damage control, and also how to manage multiple egos, parents, kids, and bring all of those aspects together to make a team successful.

  • At a very young age (10 years old) my father gave me the chance to work for his small landscape outfit. I did not realize it back then, but looking back after working every summer until the age of 22: that I would learn valuable, lifelong lessons about hard work, horticulture, landscape design, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • My father instilled the value of working for what you want at a very young age. Landscaping for me became a lens to a bigger picture, a lens that allowed me to see the value of working hard, money, and seeing a the steps of a project from start to finish.
