  • Wimax MAC Layer Protocol Development.
  • Project Name:-> RELAY Base Station & Mobile Station (WiMAX FDD technology)
  • Project Description:->
  • This project is a multihop variant of the WIMAX technology. With the existing TEL BS and MS we have created a multihop scenario. This is basically for increasing the coverage. This system uses a central BS (CBS), relay BSs (RSs) and MSs as its network components. The RSs are composed of an MS and a BS. Its responsibility is to forward the data to underlying RS or a directly connected MS.
  • This project is built on 802.16e standard by IEEE. Here a mesh network is created wherein the data must be sent to a MS which is connected to the other base station. A combination of MS and BS will act as a relay node. Many such relays can be used to communicate with MS connected to a faraway BS.
  • Role:->
  • Requirements gathering
  • Low level design, Implementation and unit testing
  • Development and Testing
  • Prototype development of a WiMAX 802.16e based Multi-Hop Relay Station Network
  • Development of Relay Station using the FDD technique using the using 802.16e Standard.
  • Project Name:-> Base station solution for WIMAX technology (Complete software solution and integration)
  • Project Description:->
  • This project is a complete solution for WiMAX BS (Base Station).WIMAX is derived from 802.16e standards by IEEE. This technology is based on OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which is the main reason for high data throughput achieved by this technology.
  • WIMAX has its own stack which comprises mainly of L1 (PHY layer) and L2 (MAC Layer).Most of the work is concentrated in these two layers. Other modules are firmware for MAC card and FPGA. The PHY and MAC card sit in the chassis.
  • The MAC runs on Cavium processor which has 8 cores. The MAC card is loaded with Linux kernel provided by Wind River. The MAC layer handles many tasks. Much functionality is included in this layer other than the networking features.
