  • I truly enjoyed my time in Cisco, I was part of the HyperFlex Hyperconverged Infrastructure group originally started by Springpath(acquired by Cisco). During my stay, I contributed to many design specs, prototypes, small features development, debugging, product maintenance, customer support, etc. As an initial member of the team, I was involved in many activities apart from my primary job of writing code; I was involved in most of the hiring activities, team building, mentoring my team members, etc.
  • Contributed to secure boot proof of concept (POC) implementation for the complete stack of HyperFlex hyper-converged infrastructure, which required building a chain of trust between UEFI based BIOS, SHIM, Signed Linux Kernel, and device driver modules.
  • Contributed to the design spec and proof-of-concept implementation for non-disruptive upgrade (NDU) orchestration for Linux based IOvisor or NFS client(aka, SCVM client).
  • Contributed to the design spec of non-disruptive ESXi Hypervisor upgrade on Cisco HyperFlex storage stack.
  • Debugging customer issues, product maintenance, customer support, etc

  • During my stay in FireEye, I had ownership of FireEye endpoint Linux agent; was responsible for the development of Linux agent platform, successfully delivered with quality to more than 600 Endpoint (mostly on servers). Also, built prototypes for upcoming features but Linux agent sales were not growing as expected since endpoint agents were mostly servers and every customer had very few Linux servers. last few months of my stay I was contributing to FireEye Windows agent for Antivirus and also did test automation. Apart from this, contributed to a few sustenance activities as well.
  • Contributed to design and implementation of an enterprise-grade scalable endpoint agent platform on Linux. These endpoint agents can collect real-time filesystem, network, memory events on a large scale.
  • As a prototype, implemented Domain-Specific Language and runtime environment for Linux agent platform which helps in the quick development and deployment of drop-in security plugins.

  • In my tenure in NetApp I solved many complex problems, Implementated many complex features and solutions, which naturally gave me many opportunities to Innovate. Learned a lot about the Cluster Data ONTAP®, Distributed system, Storage virtualization, and storage solutions.
  • Independently delivered the complex solution named "Asynchronous Resiliency against short Network outages". That enabled clustered-data ONTAP® to hold client access notifications inside the storage controller against a limited network outage. It was an ambiguous requirement where boundaries weren’t clearly defined; many challenges were there for converting this product requirement to engineering requirement; successfully finished the design and implementation in a tight schedule.
  • Came up with an idea called ORE (ONTAP® Rule Evaluator), it was an innovative concept and market differentiator idea which provides a dynamic presence of NetApp's partner’s software inside the NetApp's Storage Controller(Data ONTAP®). The measured performance of this approach was significantly huge. Multiple patent applications were filed to protect it.
  • Contributed to FPolicy Service Manager (FSM) enhancements, which was a complex multi-threaded application in FreeBSD userspace of each node in the cluster.
  • Enabled external-protocol security for FPolicy. NetApp uses FPolicy external-protocol (XML over TCP) to communicate with NetApp's partner, added TLS support in that external protocol. Due to SSLv3 vulnerabilities, we had to introduce TLS changes in FPolicy external-protocol to make FPolicy more secure.
  • Contributed to NetApp's Disaster Recovery (DR) solution and in Metro Cluster Communication (MCC). I was also involved in configuration Queue Optimization (for Async DR), came up with an innovative idea to optimize it. A patent application was filed.
  • Took ownership of FPolicy management gateway, command-line interface(CLI or UI), and configuration management in a cluster environment.

  • Contributed to technical research, design, and development of customized solutions for DOPRA Linux (Distributed Object-oriented Parallel Real-time Architecture of Linux) .
  • Implemented "hot plug-out and hot plug-in" feature for DOPRA Linux. This feature enabled the platform to detect hot-plug-out and plug-in of disk drive from System-rack. This feature used to detect if the plugged-in disk drive is really brand new , if the drive really required filesystem (ext3/ext4) creation in it .
  • Porting of pNFS (parallel Network file system) in DOPRA Linux from 2.6.32 kernel to 2.6.27 kernel.
  • Tuned e2fask (file system consistency checking utility) source code to enhance e2fask performance (to check file system consistency in optimum time). e2fsck performance improvement happened by avoiding lengthy duplicate block checking.
  • Developed many build tools and automation framework to speed up the coding and software development process.
  • Was involved in may technical research projects.
