• Actively pursued research in online social networking. Designed optimized algorithms and developed solutions to search in a decentralized community-based social network. Specially focused on finding social paths to targets that go through highly trustworthy friends and are topologically closer to the starting node. Developed an online social networking model based on the semantic relations between profile attributes of nodes.

• Instrumental in the research, design and development of the Smart Cane project for the visually impaired; the project had two parts – first, a cane mountable obstacle detection system to give timely warnings; and second, a device that would help identify all buses on a bus stop and then, help board the bus of interest using auditory cues. Both projects got nationwide & international publicity via TV, newspapers and online news portals.

• Field tested the Smart Cane project with the visually impaired. Collaborated with real users to gain valuable feedback and made important improvements.
