  • I am a firm believer that an open ecosystem and smooth interoperability based on data standards, while protecting privacy of the farmers is a key to unlock innovation in agriculture. The industry needs to come together to break down the walled-gardens and unlock data being held hostage by tools that farmers use. As a board member of AgGateway Global, and chair of AgGateway Europe, I am deeply engaged in developing interoperability standards and evangelizing them globally. AgGateway is a global, non-profit organization with the mission to develop the resources and relationships that drive digital connectivity in global agriculture and related industries. AgGateway’s 200+ members include commercial players across the ag ecosystem, industry trade associations, international standards groups, state/regional agencies, and members of academia focused on data exchange issues.

NIIT is a market-leading, pure-play Managed Training Services company with over 36 years of experience in learning outsourcing. With a global footprint that spans over 40 countries, NIIT helps the world’s leading companies dramatically improve L&D effectiveness and efficiency. I established StackRoute Labs with the core engineering team of Ilimi. StackRoute Labs is the product engineering, technology innovation and incubation heart of StackRoute. • Mission 200 Million - The lack of access to learning opportunities is a complex and multidimensional problem. It impacts the lives of millions of children on a daily basis. EkStep Foundation was formed to address this challenge at scale - leading to Mission EkStep and the creation of Sunbird as open digital infrastructure, and the curation of Societal Platform thinking. I was fortunate to be part of this journey, working with an extended team of highly motivated engineers to create the Sunbird Learning Platform. The IP created at Ilimi was forked to become a kernel of the Sunbird Platform that was open sourced under MIT License. Recently, Sunbird was recognized as a Digital Public Good (DPG) by the Digital Public Goods Alliance under the aegis of UNICEF.

  • The early MOOC platforms like CourseEra and EdX gave birth to the new paradigm of "Inverted Classroom" to facilitate self-paced learning. But these platforms suffered from poor engagement and completion rates. The Ilimi platform created a path-breaking innovation of adaptive learning using Micro-Concepts for personalized learning journeys. We used AI/ML to track learner progress and allowed the facilitators to focus on the gaps. The platform was successfully used for a range of learning scenarios ranging from teaching programming to early professionals to teaching math and language skills to children at primary school level and was successfully rolled out in partnership with leading education service providers in India. In 2016, NIIT Ltd. the largest education service provider in India acquired the business of Ilimi.

Canopus consulting (incubated to ilimi)

Partner and Chief Architect

Dec 2009Sep 2016 · 6 yrs 9 mos · Bangalore

  • We started Canopus Consulting with a mission to make deep technology expertise available to other companies. The problem we saw was that - very few organizations had access to deep technology expertise. Those that didn't usually rely on outsourcing partners or consultants to architect their solutions. While the vendors built the systems, companies, for the most part, could not carry on the journey independently on their own. So we created a consulting service model to solve deep technical problems for our partners and mentor their engineering teams to realize the vision. This ensured the long-term success of our partners. We solved complex problems ranging from real-time embedded systems to ultra-large-scale systems in the defense, supply chain, and banking sectors for the Indian Navy and several startups and enterprise customers.

Veloz global solutions (acquired by tcg group)

Chief Technology Officer

Oct 2004Dec 2009 · 5 yrs 2 mos · Bangalore, Mountain View

  • The space of business intelligence was going through a massive transformation in early 2000s. Static dashboards and reports, and the ability to drill-down into data was good at creating post-facto visibility into the state of the enterprise, but it lacked the ability to allow executives to intervene and take corrective actions BEFORE the KPIs went red. At Veloz, we invented a new innovative platform - MCUBE-RT - Measure, Monitor and Manage in Real-time. The heart of the MCUBE-RT platform was a patented semantic network that modelled the performance of an enterprise. This was one of the earliest applications of Semantic Web technologies to create an expert system. I established the Veloz engineering team in India and led the development of the patented IP. I established key multi-million dollar partnerships with leading players like Infosys and IBM to license Veloz technology platform to their customers. I worked closely with our CEO to raise VC funding and took the company through an M&A.
