Contributed to the development of a service focused on delivering one-way comms, including push notifications, SMS, email, in-app messages, WhatsApp, etc.
A notable achievement was leading the initiative to optimise database costs by transitioning from DynamoDB to ScyllaDB specifically for in-app messaging.
Additionally, played a pivotal role in Platformatising the service, enabling its deployment and utilisation within the Grab-Digibank environments. In my role as a Backend Engineer within Shopee's Anti-Fraud team, I made significant contributions to the development and enhancement of two core products: Rule Engine and Treatment Center.
Rule Engine was a pivotal service, which allowed for the configuration of diverse strategies to effectively detect and counteract fraudulent activities. I played a key role in the seamless integration of important events and supporting the development of critical strategies aimed at enhancing our anti-fraud capabilities.
Led a comprehensive redesign of the Treatment Center which was a service used to trigger different actions like Ban User, Send SMS, etc. The goal was to reduce its dependency on the Rule Engine, resulting in greater flexibility. This not only facilitated the easy addition of new actions to the Treatment Center but also extended its utility to other essential services beyond the Rule Engine.
My day-to-day responsibilities involved understanding feature requirements, designing and implementing solutions, and promptly addressing live issues and system alerts.
