Editor/Producer of H2G2, in charge of the hugely successful online collaborative guide base on Douglas Adams’s famous book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I wrote exemplar copy for H2G2, inspiring others to write, and managed its thriving online community. Working direct to the Editor of BBC Online, I managed a small team plus a much larger group of online volunteers. I was responsible for maintaining a culture of editorial excellence, upholding BBC editorial standards and guidelines at all times.
As Editor I was responsible for all types of content on site, both written articles and users’ posts and conversations. In terms of complaints, anti-social behaviour, and threats of legal action, this required sound judgment and clear reasoning at all times, often under considerable pressure. I liaised frequently with BBC Legal, BBC Editorial Policy, and BBC Data Protection.
I also helped successfully manage the gentle transition of H2G2 out of the BBC, safely back into the hands of its users who continue to run the site to this day.

In the year 2000 I was employed to work as writer/editor for world-famous author Douglas Adams at The Digital Village, the pioneering social media company he founded in Covent Garden. While there, I helped create H2G2, the online Guide To Life, The Universe, and Everything, based on Douglas's novel The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
I remained part of the H2G2 editorial team when it was acquired by the BBC.
