• Developed a traveler shopping funnel tailored for customers who have already booked flights, allowing them to seamlessly add ancillaries such as seats and bags to their existing orders. Oversaw a cross-functional team of over 25 engineers and collaborated with 10+ stakeholders spanning finance, call agents, XD, and product teams. Architected over 3 services from the ground up, with a network of more than 10 microservices operating within the funnel across various phases including shop, select, checkout, pay, confirm, and email receipt. Achieved significant cost savings totaling $600K in agent call hours and generating $2M GP/transaction. Currently, spearheading efforts to extend the functionality to include direct airlines and other GDS. Additionally, actively involved in implementing contextualized nudges to inform travelers about available add-ons for their flight bookings.
• Leading a mid-size agile team of dynamic engineers building a shopping funnel for the travellers who have already booked flights with us and want to add ancillaries to their existing orders.
• Initiated Bugathon 2023, a pioneering initiative aimed at assessing and enhancing the quality of travel applications through a hackathon-style approach. Launched initially within the Air team, successfully addressing 80% of logged bugs within a 10-hour timeframe. Expanded the program to encompass the entire shopping organization, with a primary focus on elevating app excellence. Through the collective efforts of participating developers, effectively reduced Expedia App crashes from 2.7% to 0.5%. Currently overseeing the third iteration, which has been extended to a global level within EG, with developers across the organization actively addressing existing bugs to uphold product quality standards.
