• Over the last two years, under Dr. Maringanti’s supervision, I have :
• Engaged with local communities in projects involving research, activism and knowledge dissemination. The outcomes of my work include reports on the working conditions of garbage truck drivers, the informal economies of paratransit (autorickshaws), and maps of ecologically sensitive nesting spots of endangered vulture species in a tiger reserve.
• Imparted mapping skills among HUL interns, volunteers and researchers, thus building open source GIS and critical cartography skills as a core competency of the institute.
• Created a repository of databases for the city of Hyderabad - by spatialising non-digital or closed format datasets (such as slums, heritage structures, police stations, and water bodies) and leading crowdsourcing initiatives when there is no data available (public toilets and bus stops).
