My entire sales career has been built on top of failures. 👇 is my journey so far ‣ I started as a clueless kid trying to figure out what to do after realising my Engineering degree cannot help me get a job. ‣ Then I met my first boss - Kumar who hired me as an SDR, soon promoting me as an SDR lead of 6 people. ‣ The SaaS buzz was going around and I desperately wanted to get myself into the SaaS world. Landed in Chargebee through Inbound Prospecting. ‣ My first job as an AE, I literally sucked and made 0% commission. After learning the product, market and consultative selling, I hit 300% of the sales quota with 20% new ARR growth QoQ and an overall NRR of 120%. ‣ Learning and practising SPIN Selling led to a 5X ASP increase on all my deals. Landed top 7 logos for the year. Ego bloated up and I argued that great sales reps need not follow process. ‣ Sales leadership journey began... I joined ReportGarden as a GTM Leader for Sales & Customer Success functions. I could bring results very soon being an experienced closer and knowing what it takes to move up the revenue needle. ‣ Soon kicked in the reality check of having a failing process. Failed and failed again, but didn’t give up. Spent a ton of time learning the Sales Process and stabilised revenue growth. ‣ I then came back to work for my old boss, Germain, to help him build the EU/UK, MEA and APAC Sales Regions of Chargebee. I did help to scale these regions to greater revenue multiples, but didn’t care about ‘People’. Treated them like numbers on a Google Sheet. ‣ To change myself, I rigorously practised Radical Candor, built trust and genuinely cared about the team. Really thankful to my team for genuinely helping me change. ‣ I then wrote a Cold Outbound LinkedIn Message to Vetri and created the need for my position as Director of Sales for Ally.io building a GTM team from Chennai. ‣ I struggled to learn Sales / Management.
