I am enjoying my 10th year at Amazon, currently working as a Senior SDE in the InTech Automotive team. We are focused on suggesting compatible replacement parts and accessories to Amazon retail customers. As senior engineers, we have to think beyond code. We get to work on projects end-to-end, starting from the customer, initial scoping, architecture, to coding and launching. It does not even end there, since we keep optimizing the performance and cost. As Ella Baker once said, "Give light and people will find the way.“ We are supposed to be the ones who give the light. We are helping our teammates to be more productive by resolving blockers, extracting shared libraries, finding and experimenting with the right innovations. For example, about a year ago, we started a dolphin tank, where team member think of any idea, hack it and represent it. Idea with potential influence get selected as goal to launch for targeted customers. Similar is now used by thousands of teams at Amazon. And you can do the same, if you have the right idea! That is what I like most about my job – any small improvement at scale gets multiplied beyond measure. Furthermore, you will work with brilliant people coming from many different cultures, learning about the world in the process.
