About

With over 20 years of experience in design and manufacturing, I’ve worked with global brands including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Home, and Burberry, leading design teams at Esquel and Dewhirst. My expertise lies in integrating technology with design, particularly in fabric simulation, 3D workflows, and digital materials, to drive innovation in the fashion and textile industry. Previously, I co-founded Bureau 555, a digital agency dedicated to helping brands and manufacturers transition to 3D sampling, reducing waste and improving efficiency. While Bureau 555 is no longer active, its mission to make digital workflows more accessible remains central to my work. My current focus is archiving and digitisation in fashion heritage and research. As an Industrial Fellow at The Studio in Bath, supported by MyWorld, I am developing strategies to digitise fashion archives, ensuring greater accessibility, preservation, and engagement. My work explores how digital tools—such as 3D scanning, virtual sampling, and interactive platforms—can transform the way we experience and research historical garments. I have collaborated with institutions including the Fashion Museum Bath, Bath Spa University & CAMERA to advance digital engagement in heritage collections. Alongside my industry work, I am deeply committed to education and knowledge-sharing. I was Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Fashion Buying and Brand Management course at Ravensbourne University London and continue to mentor students and emerging professionals. I also lead the Digital Fashion Course at the Victoria and Albert Museum, equipping 18-26 yr olds with essential 3D skills and digital literacy. in 2025 I was invited to speak at SXSW, where I shared insights on the future of digital fashion, archiving, and the role of technology in reshaping how we create, store, and interact with fashion assets. Trained in Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, I believe in the power of digital literacy, co-creation, and emerging technologies to shape a more sustainable and innovative future for fashion. Through my consultancy, shinerhilldesign, I continue to bridge industry, academia, and technology to drive meaningful change.
