About

In my previous life as a cellular and molecular neuroscientist, I studied the molecular mechanisms involved in regulating neuronal apoptosis following acute neural injuries (Ph.D. work) and the mechanistic link between impaired protein homeostasis (proteostasis) and the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders (postdoctoral research). I now leverage my international research experience from multiple world-class academic institutions (University of Toronto, RIKEN, UT Southwestern Medical Center/Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine) to help drive research forward at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University. I play a multifaceted role in the CiRA Research Promoting Office: advising on scientific manuscripts and grant proposals, teaching science writing and presentation, coordinating academic events and international collaborations, and organizing career and professional development workshops and seminars for students and postdocs.
