Saravana Kumar is an engineering leader with a proven record of building and scaling machine learning–powered products that drive real business impact. Across startups and global tech giants, he has led transformative initiatives in search, natural language understanding, conversational intelligence, and AI-driven product innovation. He built Topsy’s planet-scale social analytics platform—pushing HBase beyond its limits and pioneering ML at real scale; at Apple, he founded Siri’s Web Search team, built its first federated rankers, drove breakthroughs in relevance, and shipped its fastest-ever autocomplete; he then scaled Ally.io through rapid growth to a Microsoft acquisition; and now at Apollo, he’s shaping the company into an AI-native organization with a category-defining assistant. Under his leadership, Apollo launched intelligent prospecting, deep company research products, auto-personalized message generation, and one of the most advanced AI assistants in the GTM space—often called the “Cursor moment” for revenue platforms. Previously, as Director of Engineering at Ally.io (and later Microsoft), he scaled the team from 15 to 90+, led the migration into Microsoft’s Viva Goals, scaled the platform to handle 50× more traffic, and delivered one of the fastest product launches in Microsoft history. He also launched an AI-powered OKR assistant that boosted adoption and business impact across enterprises. At Apple, he founded and scaled teams that powered Siri’s Web Search and Open-Domain Question Answering, evolving the system from text-based indexing to semantic search and comprehension models. His work resulted in five granted patents in search relevance, semantic understanding, and query prediction. Earlier, as Software Architect at Topsy Labs, he built one of the world’s largest real-time analytics platforms over social data, pioneering large-scale geo-tagging, sentiment analysis, and influencer detection. His work led directly to Topsy’s acquisition by Apple. Saravana holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Syracuse University, specializing in search and machine learning, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from NIT Trichy.
