Gamereplays.org

Game Administrator & Patch Developer

Apr 2015Apr 2017 · 2 yrs · www.gamereplays.org/riseofthewitchking

  • Technologies: HTML, JavaScript, BBCode, custom .ini files.
  • Game Admin Description: Managing the entire Rise of the Witch-king section (a real-time strategy game originally developed by Electronic Arts) and the 9 staff members working there. I have around 1,000 days of total staff experience on this site. Check out my profile for a detailed history: http://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showuser=109088
  • Patch Developer Description: I am one of three developers for the unofficial 2.02 patch, a community-made patch that makes further balance (and some cosmetic) changes to the game to make it ideal for multiplayer competitive play. You can follow the progress of the patch on Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/forlongthefat/rotwk-unofficial-202
  • Accomplishments:
  • Managed a section of the site with more than 30,000 monthly pageviews. Daily pageviews more than doubled since February, when I started working for the site again.
  • Worked with the community to collect feedback on future balance changes for the unofficial patch.
  • Implemented changes, tested them, and incorporated them into future builds.
  • Began an Agile-driven development cycle to ensure timely, well-tested patch releases to maximize player satisfaction.
  • Created a content schedule and edited & published new content on the site on a regular basis. Over 25 pieces published since February.
  • Doubled the number of staff members working for the section to ensure that we can serve the community effectively with more manpower.

Citi

IT Graduate - Intern

Sep 2014Dec 2014 · 3 mos · Mississauga, Canada

  • Technologies: ASP.NET C#, JSON, MongoDB (NoSQL), ASP.NET Web API
  • Description: Developing a new CRM solution covering millions of Citi's clients as part of a diverse development team. My work specifically is on a module expected to handle 10,000 database write operations/day and many more reads.
  • Accomplishments:
  • Designed a customized database logging / history tracking feature that logs write operations to the database and can be leveraged to provide a transaction-like mechanism for a technology that does not support transactions on its own. This includes writing enough code to fill an entire Data Access Layer that can handle 10,000 write operations/day. Features include recovery & rollback of transactions and methods that support reading and processing the history of changes.
  • Interesting note: I had no idea what MongoDB was before I started, and quickly found out it was radically different than all my prior database experience. I had to adapt and learn a new technology quickly on my own.
