About

Together with an amazing team, I'm building Plans to decarbonise homes. If you're kind (and talented), reach out. I've been privileged to get many experiences quite young. I burnt out and realised that chasing money and fancy titles was futile and not getting me closer to happiness and meaningfulness. So I decided to focus on what I cared about as a kid: climate change. I strive to reduce carbon emissions to the best of my abilities. If you have feedback to be more effective, shout!

  • Decarbonising homes. Faster.
  • First, we made the process to get a heat pump installed much smoother for everyone, incl. ourselves.
  • Then, we honed in on tradespeople.
  • Backed by Lowercarbon, Norrsken VC, Partech, Foundamental, MCJ Collective, Xoogler Ventures and wonderful angels.

Electricity maps

2 roles

Head of Partnerships and Sustainability

Feb 2021Sep 2021 · 7 mos

  • Electricity Maps (formerly Tomorrow) builds tech products to empower organisations and people to understand and reduce their climate impact.
  • Electricity Maps is an open-source project that provides hour-by-hour insights into the carbon intensity of electricity of over 200 regions. Organisations purchase access to our API.
  • I was hired as the sole full-time employee after the two cofounders. We built a consumer app (a carbon footprint tracker), and then a carbon accounting SaaS before returning to the original project, Electricity Maps.
  • Some of the things that I've picked up along the way:
  • Financing:
  • Took part in the VC fundraising (before we decided to focus on self-financing)
  • Applied for and obtained over 2.9MM DKK in public and research grants
  • The organisation has a longer runway than when I joined and is on a credible path to profitability
  • Startup operations:
  • Hiring 10 people
  • Owner of HR, office, legal, and accounting processes
  • Product:
  • Working alongside ≈9 product and engineering peers, often as the only person with a non-technical background
  • Responsible for the marketing and launch of two tech products
  • Climate:
  • Obtained deep understanding of climate change drivers and realistic paths for humanity to avoid a really bad time #LawsOfPhysics
  • Obtained deep understanding of corporate sustainability reporting, strategies and challenges related to these, incl. Science-Based Targets, GHG Protocol and CDP application processes
  • Obtained deep understanding of carbon emission factors and their nuances
  • Obtained good understanding of electricity procurement for sustainability purposes

Climate Activist 😇😈

Jan 2019Present · 7 yrs 3 mos · Copenhagen Metropolitan Area

  • Doing everything in my power to fight humanity's biggest threat.
  • I like to discuss climate change based on facts, especially looking at societal costs of emission reductions. For this reason, I've focused on getting a sufficiently high carbon tax in Denmark.
  • I've been described by a politician as a "carbon tax lobbyist" and by others as a "a badger that bites until it crunches". I've also been described as an "edgy climate activist trolling on Twitter" by Arla (one of Denmark's top CO2 emitter)'s PR boss.
  • My SoMe posts against greenwashers have been used as objective for large corporations' sustainability strategies as an outcome to avoid.
  • Some achievements:
  • Getting the world's first carbon tax on agriculture sector by 2030
  • Getting one of the world's highest carbon taxes by 2030 (159€/tCO₂): https://www.weforum.org/videos/denmark-proposes-corporate-carbon-tax
  • Rallying all Danish green NGOs behind carbon taxes: https://www.dn.dk/nyheder/18-ngo-med-faelles-forslag-til-gron-genstart-af-danmark/
  • Rallying most Danish youth political parties behind carbon taxes: https://www.information.dk/debat/2020/05/blaa-roede-ungdomspartier-faelles-opraab-klimakrisen-loeses-indfoer-co2-afgift
  • Rallying 69 green entrepreneurs behind carbon taxes: https://www.altinget.dk/energi/artikel/69-groenne-ivaerksaettere-til-mette-frederiksen-vi-kan-ikke-leve-op-til-klimamaal-uden-hoejere-afgifter
  • Rallying 300+ scientists in Denmark behind carbon taxes, among others 7 former chairs of the Danish Economic Councils: https://politiken.dk/debat/art8031619/299-forskere-i-opr%C3%A5b-til-Folketinget-Danmark-b%C3%B8r-indf%C3%B8re-en-klimaskat-nu
  • Writing a lot of op-eds in major Danish media, appearing on TV and on radio.

  • A company I founded to work on and invest in projects that fit at least two of these 3 conditions:
  • it's fun
  • it's financially worthwhile
  • I learn something
  • Successfully exited geowiz.tech in 2022, where I built with two friends a tool to help micromobility companies manage their maps.
  • On most of the other projects I'm happy that it was fun and that I learnt something 😉
