• I served primarily as a technical leader, working with multiple teams across the organization to architect and support the implementation of major technical initiatives that impacted the whole company. I strongly believe that the more experienced an engineer, the more one should be ready to pitch in wherever needed, so my work involved a diverse range of responsibilities: from authoring technical strategy, to supporting teams with test hardware, to writing and reviewing code and documentation.
• Having a background as a mobile and in-car application developer, I also worked with Android Automotive and improving our in-car software ecosystem. Strong partnerships and integrations with 3rd party services were key to Volvo's success and I also spent some of my time contributing to partner- and public-facing APIs.

• I worked closely with Spotify’s many automotive industry partners to support and lead them in integrating Spotify into their infotainment systems. I made use of my strong engineering background while working cross-functionally across Product Management, Business Development and Design. My favorite thing about this role was how much I enjoyed working with many highly skilled and motivated teams at large businesses all over the world.
• While in this role I did not spend much time writing code, I remained deeply involved with the technology strategy and architectural decisions that concerned our embedded Spotify automotive experiences across multiple tech stacks, focusing mainly on Android Automotive. I was also mentoring and leading other engineers to help ensure our team was well-performing, with no individual bottlenecks.

• I was promoted to the role of Senior Engineer in recognition of my impact and mastery within the automotive team. In this role, I worked directly with automotive industry partners to support them in integrating Spotify. I also improved and maintained Spotify integrations in a software development role, mainly writing code in Java, Kotlin and C. As one of the more senior members of the team I mentored other engineers and lead work across team boundaries.

Mar 2017 – Feb 2020 · 2 yrs 11 mos

• I joined the automotive team at Spotify in a software development role where I helped architect, build and maintain apps and integration products for connected cars. In this role, I was writing code in Java and C, primarily targeting Android and embedded platforms, making good use of my prior mobile app development experience. I also had the opportunity to work directly with some of Spotify’s automotive partners in supporting their integration efforts.

• This role allowed me to make use of my software development background while tapping into project management and working closely with business partners. I also planned and managed events both internal and external, such as company conferences and workshops, and held recruitment events to attract talented university students.
• As a Senior Consultant, I helped customers including Egmont Publishing, Seamless Distribution, Appear Networks, If..., Nobina and Spotify develop solutions based on the .NET technology stack, PHP, and Android mobile applications. These varied assignments let me work across many different disciplines and at all levels of system architecture.

• I was part of a team architecting, building, and maintaining integration products for the hospitality industry. I worked with .NET technologies to build web services that needed to perform and scale well, as well as tools (web and native) to manage, update and visualize data from such services, working with stakeholders from many different parts of the world. This role frequently required me to quickly adapt to changing requirements and to independently learn to be productive with new tools and APIs.

• At Appear, our team developed mobile applications based on Windows Mobile and Android for clients primarily in the logistics and air transport industries. This work also included significant pre-sales efforts, developing, and presenting proof of concept solutions to potential clients, often on very tight deadlines. The opportunity to work cross-functionally in a role that combined the need for strong engineering stills with an outward focus is something I remember very fondly. This role also gave me much-welcomed experience working in an international team and with stakeholders all over the world.

• I worked as a developer supporting large scale infrastructure for planning and operating public transport. This role required me to keep current on several different tech stacks, alternating between maintenance of legacy code and greenfield development of new business applications and services. Frequently changing resources, requirements and processes created unique challenges and working in this role was a great learning experience for me.

• At RemoteX, I worked as a developer in the core team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining mobile business applications for clients in the construction and facility management industries. Developing mobile apps in the era before smartphones were popularized was exciting and extremely challenging. In this role I also helped architect and develop a scalable and robust backend for our services.
