Devina Mehra — Founder
I have been leading First Global for the past three decades - starting it off as a securities firm and investment bank and later transforming it into an Indian and Global Quantitative Asset Management firm. We currently manage portfolios under the Portfolio Management Services (PMS) format. We also have a smart basket product under Smallcase for smaller investors. We manage global funds and portfolios as well. Indians can invest in these via the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) remittances. First Global has been the very first Indian firm in the investment field to truly globalise - a journey which began in the late '90s with First Global becoming the first Asian (ex Japan) firm to become a member of the prestigious London Stock Exchange and later the NASD. Functionally, I have always headed the research, investment strategy and later the fund management functions which have always been the strengths of First Global. I started my professional career in Citibank working in the Investment Banking Group and then the Corporate Risk Strategy Group from 1986-1993. In 1993, I quit Citibank and became an individual member of the Bombay Stock Exchange. This proprietorship was later corporatised into First Global along with a membership of the NSE. As First Global globalized its research, it gained a following not just for its India coverage but also for its ability of identifying key changes and inflection points in markets across the world. Its global research gained tremendous following among institutional investors worldwide. A leading publication Barron’s called First Global research "Credible...and often, much more than that". I have been widely quoted in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune, Business Week, Barron's etc. and have featured on several shows on finance and markets on several channels in India and abroad. I have been felicitated and featured as one of India's leading entrepreneurs by Outlook Business and Entrepreneur magazines. Also featured in Fortune magazine's 50 Most Powerful Indian Women in Business 2022 and 2025. Some calls in the past 20 years include predicting the 2000 tech crash, the Oil crash to $30, from $150, in the India bull run from 2009, early identification of Amazon, Apple, Netflix etc and many others in India, exiting major equity positions in Feb 2020, before the COVID meltdown. I am a gold medallist both from the Indian Institute Of Management, Ahmedabad and Lucknow University where I broke the 60 year record of the University.
