About

My purpose is to deliver an outstanding accounting service to help consultants, contractors and freelancers to efficiently extract funds from their businesses. I’ve developed a tiered service that combines streamlined efficiency with personal service, for an attractive fixed fee. I started my accountancy career in 1992, rising to be a senior manager over 15 years and gaining enormous experience of accountancy, business and management. I realised I wanted to work more directly with people running small businesses so I set up Focus Accountancy in Bristol in 2007. I now lead a small team and I’m able to support clients while being close to my young family. With a focus on consultants, contractors and freelancers my clients work in a wide variety of industries, such as Medical practitioners, IT consultants and Engineers. My clients are mainly in the Bristol area, with some across the UK. Many clients value being able to meet face to face, as well as phone and video contact. I gain great satisfaction from helping people to save time, so they can spend as little time as possible on their finances and more time doing what really matters to them. In 2013 I identified that cloud software and online tools would enable clients to save time, and help us to deliver an efficient and pro-active service. I led our research and relationship as a FreeAgent partner. To help clients to extract funds efficiently from their businesses I also offer IR35 Planning, Personal Tax Returns, VAT and Company Accounts services. In my spare time I enjoy cycling, walking, reading and spending time with my young family.   • I identified the potential of cloud-based accounting software in 2013. A colleague and I conducted a thorough review of the market to establish which was the best software for our clients, taking into account functionality, security and financial backing.
