Tarun Sharma is widely recognized as a technologist, thought leader, transformation change agent, and social entrepreneur within the technology industry in India. He is currently the founder of Yodda, a technology company focused on elder care and citizen safety. He sits on the board of a few companies, including Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solution. His journey into the elder care space began with the personal loss of his parents, that struggled with critical illnesses, and the realization that the brain drain in the 80s and 90s have created a whole generation of lonely elders needing frequent support that could only be provided through a reliable, professional services company. Once the technology was in place for senior citizens, he quickly realized that the same life-saving efforts could be applied to a broader market space, allowing for the development of Yodda TRYBE. Most recently, Tarun Sharma was the Chief Executive Officer of BMC Software India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BMC Software Inc. Tarun also served as the Chief Customer Officer for Asia Pacific and Japan, ensuring customers successfully realize value from the BMC products they use. In addition, Tarun led BMC’s engineering center in Ukraine and the highly acclaimed Incubator for several years. Tarun is credited with leading BMC India through four distinct phases of growth and maturity. During his tenure, BMC India received Zinnov awards for Center Transformation in 2014, Customer Centricity in 2015, Most Effective GEN Y Engagement in 2016, and Intrapreneur of the Year in 2017, for his exemplary spirit of entrepreneurism within BMC! BMC was recognized as one of the top 10 places to work for in 2019 and ranked at #8 in 2020. Tarun joined BMC from Virtusa (“VRTU”), a global software services company, where he was SVP of the BFSI, and Technology business. He was part of the team that took the company through its startup years to a successful IPO. Prior to joining Virtusa, Tarun co-founded EC Cubed, which was recognized in its early days as the top 100 companies to watch for in the B2B E-Commerce space. Tarun has co-authored two books - Programming Web Components (McGraw Hills Publications, 1997) and Enterprise E-Commerce (Meghan-Kiffer Press, 1999). Enterprise E-Commerce became a best-seller, ranking within the top 25 on business technology management. Tarun is a software engineer by training. He graduated from PICT in 1992. He lives in Pune now with his wife, Reshma, two children, Simran and Avi, after living in the US for fourteen years.
