Entrepreneurs, like sales guns for hire, will never need a normal job because every business needs our spark. Those with the winning mentality need challenges, for we are driven far more by the desire to inspire, to develop ourselves and those we collaborate with. Success, sustainable success, must be driven by far more than commercial reward if one is to really end each day having won and therefore succeeded. So who am I? A Gentleman by name and nature I was the fire starter at Packard Bell, then moved on to inspire Ideal Hardware PLC and Datrontech HK (later PLC) as well as my own business from zero to 18m in year one by the age of 27 (which inspired Oxford Brookes to offer a degree). Regarded as a tech 'player' and consumer electronics entrepreneur (MP3 & MP4 pioneer along with some other products that make us think 'really' even though we bought one). Top 5 for storage, CPU and memory sales in EMEA for 10 year+ topping a $billion a year! Top salesman at every company I have owned or worked with/for. Former LEA Governor and NGFL influencer, Lincoln City Fundraiser of the year (2009) and New Football Pools Online Fanzine writer of the year (2009).   • Built a distribution company from scratch and with just 50k Venture capital became Oxfordshire's most successful start-up. The vision was to create a one-stop shop for PC assemblers. We achieved 25% penetration of PC assemblers year one (conceived and developed the virtual cache 486-motherboard and took the I/O and video market by storm leading to the one-stop-shop distributor that caught the eye of Intel, Digital Research and Microsoft. Personally hired and trained an enviable sales force, built credit lines with Schroders (MMD with Intel & SGS support) Electron House PLC chairman (Bytech with Intel and Microsoft support) and ASK Technology who expanded as a manufacturer tenfold in 18 months. Devised and successfully introduced several new products and solutions (and therefore brands) to the UK IT trade. Turnover of £18 million year one with a staff of 36 (GP of £1.8M) This was despite 1.1m exchange rate losses due to ERM withdrawal (the Forex cover fell fell through and DK'd us) with expansion to two new premises during this time due to phenomenal growth that exceeded expectations. Oxfordshire's biggest start up of the year was recognised by both Oxford Round table and Oxford Brookes University (offered an Hon BSC in Economics for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise)

  • Founder Eitan Barzilay called me the best salesman he had ever met and his best gut reaction decision. As a 20-year-old he gave me the chance to implement my 'solutions in volume (collaborative box shifting via multi-channel distribution ) sales approach that took Cal-Abco (Packard Bell) from a 6 seat start up to an unprecedented level of market penetration that funded a move to the vast Racal building in Ruislip – all bought and paid for in cash, through a combination of US start up VC and organic growth (inspiration and perspiration in equal measure). Very much a sales foot soldier becoming top hard drive salesman in UK - Seagate and MiniScribe (Maxtor) hard drives. PC market penetration was enviable in a developing market - enjoyed a 10% market share paving way for UK brand creation and awareness of Packard Bell Computers. Peripheral channel turnover, within a new and emerging IT market, increased from £250k to 1.5 million per month, of which 600k under my personal control (this excludes House Account and PC Sales that were passed to SD /MD post close for on-going processes - I did close and continue to develop Kent County Council, Manchester Poly Conde Nast . Top salesperson on both PCs and Hard drives, ensuring company became the largest hard drive distributor and premier IBM compatible PC brand within the UK marketplace. Key note speeches at CeBit & Comdex (now CES) where Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Andrew Grove all complemented my vision in one to ones.
