About

I am a financial journalist turned integrated communications professional listed in the Reputation Today magazine's 40-under-40 list of PR executives. My 22-years of experience includes stints in corporate communications, media, and micro-finance domains. Presently working as Head of Corporate Communications at diversified financial services firm IIFL (India Infoline) Group, my second communication role after Reliance Capital, the financial services company under Reliance Group. Previously worked as a Mumbai-based financial journalist with Wall Street Journal/ Dow Jones, Thomson Reuters, and as a columnist with NewsWire18, India's largest financial wire. I as an entrepreneur had co-founded an English News weekly 'India First', a prominent publication from Eastern India, along with two journalists and a business person. The publication was sold to an international media group. I had written a book on Indian Cotton along with Sunita Narain, whose recommendations on increasing government intervention prices sharply, were included in the National Farmers Commission report chaired and authored by Dr MS Swaminanthan and were later implemented with a 40 percent rise in cotton procurement prices resulting in significant decline in farmer suicides. I introduced high yielding maize, paddy and hybrid vegetables in almost 50 villages in Jharkhand and had formed 66 self-help groups and had linked 40 of them to banks. I along with four others have introduced SRI method of paddy cultivation in about 200 villages in Orissa, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. Specialties: Traditional and digital communication, international journalism practices with focus on financial journalism. Microfinance, livelihood intervention skills.
